Introduction of Excel
Tables
PivotTable - PivotTable functionality includes a button with a drop-down that displays the "PivotTable from table or range" dialog box. This drop-down features commands for creating a PivotTable and a PivotChart, opening the respective "Create PivotTable" and "Create PivotTable and PivotChart" dialog boxes.
Recommended PivotTables - Displays the "Recommended PivotTables" dialog, showing a list of customized pivot tables suited to the data. If no recommendations are available, a blank pivot table is generated.
Table -Using (Ctrl + T) opens the "Create Table" dialog box, enabling easier sorting, filtering, and formatting of defined data.
Illustrations
Pictures - The drop-down menu includes three commands: This Device, Stock Images, and Online Pictures. "This Device" opens the "Insert Picture" dialog for local file browsing, "Stock Images" opens the Stock Image library, and "Online Pictures" allows for online image searches.
Shapes - The drop-down menu includes commands for Recently Used Shapes, Lines, Rectangles, Basic Shapes, Block Arrows, Equation Shapes, Flowchart, Stars and Banners, and Callouts.
SmartArt - Displays the "Choose a SmartArt Graphic" dialog box for selecting different types of SmartArt: List, Process, Cycle, Hierarchy, Relationship, Matrix, Pyramid, Picture, and Office.com.

Add-ins
• Get Add-ins: Opens the Office Add-ins window to view all add-ins available in the Office store.
• My Add-ins: Button with a drop-down that shows the installed add-ins in the Office Add-ins window.
• Visio Data Visualizer Add-in: Introduced in 365, this add-in creates Visio flowcharts and organization charts from Excel data using Office (Visio) Online.
• Bing Maps Add-in: Also added in 365, allows easy plotting of locations and data visualization with Bing Maps.
• People Graph Add-in: Added in 365, transforms data into an engaging visual representation.
Charts and Tours
• Recommended Charts: Accesses the "Insert Chart" dialog box (Recommended Charts tab).
• Column or Bar: Options include 2-D Column, 3-D Column, 2-D Bar, 3-D Bar, and More Column Charts.
• Line or Area: Options include 2-D Line, 3-D Line, 2-D Area, 3-D Area, and More Line Charts.
• Pie or Doughnut: Options include 2-D Pie, 3-D Pie, Doughnut, and More Pie Charts.
• Hierarchy: Options include Treemap, Sunburst, and More Hierarchy Charts.
• Statistic: Options include Histogram, Box and Whisker, and More Statistical Charts.
• Scatter XY or Bubble: Options include Scatter, Bubble, and More Scatter Charts.
• Waterfall, Funnel, Stock, Surface, or Radar: Options include Waterfall, Funnel, Stock, Surface, Radar, and More Stock Charts.
• Combo: Used for varying ranges of values or mixed data types; options include Clustered Column- Line, Stacked Area Clustered Column, and Create Custom Combo Chart.
• Maps: Options include Filled Map and More Map Options.
• PivotChart: Button that displays the "Create PivotChart" dialog box, includes PivotChart and PivotTable options.
3D Map - Button with Drop-Down enables the "Power Maps for Excel" window, featuring commands for launching Power Map and adding selected data. This functionality allows for data visualizations in workbooks but requires the Data Analysis add-ins to be enabled.
Sparklines
• Line: Opens the "Create Sparklines" dialog to insert a line chart in a single cell.
• Column: Opens the "Create Sparklines" dialog to insert a column chart in a single cell.
• Win/Loss: Opens the "Create Sparklines" dialog to insert a win/loss chart in a single cell.
Filters
• Slicer feature allows filtering of dates in tables.
• The command is located in the Table Tools - Design Tab.
• Timeline feature is also used for filtering dates in tables, pivot tables, and pivot charts.
Links
Link - Button with Drop-Down (Ctrl + K) opens the "Insert Hyperlink" dialog box and displays a list of recent items, previously referred to as Hyperlink.
Text
• Text Box: Inserts a movable textbox anywhere on the page.
• Header & Footer: Activates Page Layout view and focuses the cursor on the header box, displaying "Header & Footer Tools - Design." Click outside to exit.
• WordArt: Provides a drop-down menu with various Word Art styles for insertion.
• Signature Line: A button with a drop-down to insert a signature line, specifying the signer. Options include Microsoft Office Signature Line and Add Signature Services.
• Object: Opens the "Object" dialog box for embedding objects.
Symbols
• The drop-down menu includes the following commands:
- Area of Circle
- Binomial Theorem
- Expansion of a Sum
- Fourier Series
- Insert New Equation
• Selecting "Symbol" opens the "Symbol" dialog box.
