  • Guido Van Rossum (Dutch programmer) created this language.
  • It was started in December 1989 at CWI (Centrum Wiskunde & Informatica) in the Netherlands. 
  • It was first released in 1991.

Guido van Rossum starts the Python project 1989

First official release of Python

Python 2.0 was released with major new features 2000
Python 3.0 was released, a modernized version of the language 2008
Guido steps down as BDFL (Benevolent Dictator For Life) 2018
