Formulas Tab
Function Library
• Insert Function: (Shift + F3) opens the "Insert Function" dialog for searching or browsing functions by category.
• AutoSum: A button that inserts a Sum formula to calculate the sum of the cells above, with a dropdown for Sum, Average, Count Numbers, Max, Min, or More Functions, similar to the Home Tab command.
• Recently Used: Dropdown providing access to the last 10 functions utilized.
• Financial: Dropdown to access all functions in the Financial category.
• Logical: Dropdown for accessing all functions in the Logical category.
• Text: Dropdown for accessing all functions in the Text category.
• Date & Time: Dropdown for all functions related to Date & Time.
• Lookup & Reference: Dropdown for functions in the Lookup & Reference category.
• Math & Trig: Dropdown for functions in Mathematics & Trigonometry.
• More Functions: Dropdown offering access to Statistical, Engineering, Cube, Information, Compatibility, and Web functions.
Defined Names
• Name Manager: Displays the Name Manager dialog box.
• Define Name:
- Button with drop-down.
- Displays the "New Name" dialog box.
- Drop-down options: Define Names (to create workbook and worksheet level named ranges) and Apply Names (displays the "Apply Names" dialog box).
• Use in Formula:
- Drop-down containing a list of all named ranges in the workbook (25 with scrolling).
- Includes Paste Names command, which opens the "Paste Name" dialog box.
• Create from Selection: Displays "Create Names from Selection" dialog box to name a selected range of cells using row or column titles.
Formula Auditing
• Trace Precedents: Displays arrows indicating which cells influence the value of the selected cell.
• Trace Dependents: Displays arrows showing which cells are influenced by the value in the selected cell.
• Remove Arrows: A button with a drop-down menu to remove all arrows from trace precedents and dependents, including options for removing specific arrow types.
• Show Formulas: Shortcut (Ctrl + ') that toggles formula display instead of results.
• Error Checking: A button with a drop-down that opens the "Error Checking" dialog box with commands for Error Checking, Trace Error, and Circular References (enabled if circular references exist).
• Evaluate Formula: Displays a dialog box to step through the calculation of a formula.
• Watch Window: Displays the Watch Window to monitor cell contents and results during modifications.
Calculation
• Calculation Options: The drop-down allows changing calculation settings in the workbook to Manual, automatic, or automatic except for Data Tables; this is an application setting.
• Calculate Now (F9): Shortcut for "Calc Now" in Excel Options, not visible in the Excel Options dialog box.
• Calculate Sheet (Shift + F9): Shortcut for "Calc Sheet" in Excel Options, also not visible in the Excel Options dialog box.
